A weekend workshop learning about the power of mark making and composition utilizing the monotype press. Design concepts covered: line, mark, shape, texture, value and color; elements related to dynamic mark making with monotype press, techniques and pastel with color. We will create powerful paintings and drawings unique to your authentic self and as a result, furthering your understanding of composition and design.

EXPRESSIVE LANDSCAPES
SEATTLE STUDIO

We will use many tools in a ‘fact finding’ mission, discovering the ‘power of a place’ through drawing and painting. Sketches, paintings, drawings + collages will be created of the landscape; creating evocative works, furthering a concept of ‘place’; utilizing tools of watercolor, pastel, charcoal, etching press (monotype) and graphite.

WATERCOLOR
SEATTLE STUDIO

Watercolor is such a beautiful medium in which to paint and express. All one needs is good quality paint, water, a few brushes and paper.  I will share with you my straightforward approach, ‘cut to the chase’ to working with this expressive medium.  This workshop offers a step by step approach to one’s key decisions made early in the process: general to the specific, staying as abstract as long as possible and to simply ‘paint’ and not to toil and most importantly, to thoroughly enjoy the process.
